It seems like we go back to many of the same places every year, but it really is a different experience every time. The kids are always one year older so their interests and what they get out of each destination naturally changes. Plus the places change too! The Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet gets better every year as they continue renovating. Last year they added the stingray touch pool. This year they have provided a window into the hospital area, allowing visitors to watch turtles and other marine life getting tended to by the doctors. It was amazing to see them patch up a gopher turtle that had been chewed by a dog. With Isabelle and Oliver's daycare having had a keen interest in the rehabilitation of their own turtle, it was really great to visit again with that in our minds. We took many pictures so we could bring them back and show Miss Joanne what kind of great work the people down here are doing. Unfortunately we missed the turtle release day by one week this year, but it was still awesome to see all this marine life. Isabelle was out of school for this time period but at least she found a place to learn while on vacation! It's impossible to come here and not pick up some souvenirs from their great gift shop as well. Oliver chose a huge alligator, perfect because our next big outing was to see the gators live and in person on the St. John's River! Who knew a hospital could be such a fun place to visit!? We look forward to coming back here again and again for many years!
