Florida 2012: A Date with the Dolphins
For the past few years, we have visited this great little park just up the road from the condo, almost as far as JB's Fish Camp. The park has some great highlights, swings for the kids, a nice play structure, some shaded area for a picnic, but the real highlight is the boardwalk over looking the Intracoastal Waterway. It's a great place to cast your fishing line, watch some boats go by, or just look out over such a quiet waterway compared to the roaring surf of the ocean. But the best part is that some dolphins hang out here, especially one we have been seeing for years. This one has a split in his/her dorsal fin so we always recognize it immediately. This year was an extra special year because of two things, our dorsal fin pal had some friends with him and Grandpa had his kayak! All of the kids got the chance to head out and see the dolphins up close, and the biggest surprise of all was the manatee that was lurking down below. Good thing for us that all of these guys are such gentle creatures and were just happy to have some company in the water. It was an amazing experience for these little ones to share. Maybe one day they will realize that most NORMAL people don't go kayaking next to dolphins on their vacation. Tough act to follow next year!
Our old friend is always waiting for us!
Having an amazing time
