As They Shouted Out With Gle(b)e!

As they did a few weeks back with Hallowe'en, the Glebe Community Centre once again delivered an awesome night, this time at their annual holiday party, the Snowflake Special. The Great Hall was packed with holiday cheer plus tons of neighbourhood parents and kids, including Isabelle and Oliver and pals Brooklyn and Kaitlyn! Tables of treats and snacks, craft-making, face painting and even sleigh rides outside were all on tap, but the main event was happening on the big stage, and Mom and Dad even got pulled into the act! The kids had a great time, with the 3 girls bustling around the room, trying to see as much as possible before the big show began. Oliver started out tentative, as is his normal approach to these kinds of things, then he discovered chocolate-dipped shortbread and loosened up quickly. We settled into our front row seats to be entertained and were not disappointed. Dance numbers from toddlers to teens, mini-circus with school age performers, hoop experts with illuminated hoops, tae kwon do demos with broken boards and much more were all on display, courtesy of the many class participants in the programs at the Glebe Centre.

Face-painting...it took her 4 tries to decide what she wanted!

What a show. Check out the crowd watching from the dance studio!

But it was the games between performances that made us laugh the most. First Mommy got roped into a relay race of kids versus adults that involved changing outfits and running into the crowd for high fives. The kids won handily, even before Mom got her turn, but she still performed admirably, zipping over to Isabelle for a Mommy/Daughter high five. Isabelle was so proud to have her Mom be part of the show. But the family wasn't done yet.

Eagerly awaiting the next act

Oliver says "I can do that. It looks so easy!"

Later on, Dad was volunteered by the elf-clad co-hosts to be part of another game. He had to stand behind a sheet and get changed into a costume while the audience wondered what was going on. He came out decked in a superhero outfit and was tasked with finding an elf hidden in the crowd. Dad played the superhero part to a T, tearing around the room until he rescued the damsel in distress and returned her to safety! The things Moms and Dads do to put smiles on their kid's faces. Too bad we have photographic evidence of both events!

Addressing his many fans, he had at least 3 in the audience!

Even superheroes need to work on the weights sometimes!

The night ended with a magician and junkyard symphony and Isabelle and Oliver finally had to call it a night, despite their protests. We are so lucky to have such a cool community, next up is the Enchanted Ball in January. Do we know any 4-year old princesses interested in that?

Another great night with the neighbourhood kids
