O Christmas Tree

The night before Oliver's eventful day, we hauled out the ornaments and worked as a family to trim the Christmas tree, a big happening that was also taking place in Halifax at the same time. It was a challenge to get the work done with two little ones around, one that was occasionally trying to see how far he could throw the ornaments, the other one busy hanging multiple ornaments on as many low branches of the tree as possible. The ornament bag is always fun to go through, as you pull out items you had forgotten or that bring back memories from Christmas past and the people who made them special. We read a poll today that only 26% of people were having a real Christmas tree this year, which is disappointing to us. I guess many people find it hard work to pick one, bring it home, put it up and then feed it with water regularly. Yet many of these same people seem to be able to keep gardens and house plants alive year round. Is a tree that much harder, especially when you add the benefit of having something lovely to look it every night as it lights up your front room? Anyway, we love our tree and the kids had a blast decorating it. The final piece to the decorating puzzle. Isabelle and Oliver will be so amazed to see the presents appear Christmas morning. It's going to be awesome!
