Just before we headed up to the cottage last week, we took Isabelle to an event perfectly suited for her, the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Gatineau. She gets so excited when she sees the 1 or 2 balloons that are often flying over Carleton, so we figured she would be overjoyed with the prospect of 30 of them inflating and taking off all at the same time. The balloons are just one of many attractions on site, which included music and dance performances, a petting zoo, carnival rides, extreme sports demonstrations and of course, treats! By the time the balloons were ready for launching, Isabelle had already experienced all of the above, including her first trip on a roller coaster! The funny thing was that as we snacked on dinner and watched the balloons inflate, Isabelle wavered between watching the balloons and picking up as much grass as she could from the field we were sitting in, not exactly the over the moon reaction her parents were expecting!Checking out the backstage at the dance performance
