Happy Birthday, Lolo!

Three straight birthday posts as now we wish a hearty and happy birthday to Isabelle's previously nanny and now daycare best pal, Logan! The big party was Saturday but today was the big day and they got the chance to spend it together as Renee picked them up from daycare mid-morning and brought them home. That boy will always be known as Lolo in our home, ever since Isabelle christened him with the name early in their nanny time together. Isabelle is so lucky to have such a good friend in her life from the beginning, and we are just as lucky to have such good friends in Renee and Shawn. With all the time spent together with Kristy and Aoife, Isabelle and Logan have developed a great friendship, one that we are all happy will continue with daily interaction at daycare. These two are inseparable in that place. They sit together at snacktime and lunchtime (at their favourite instructor Pam's table), and their cots are right next to each other for naptime. In fact, Isabelle will not go to the other side of the room when she wakes up until Lolo has also woken up (and i think sometimes she "helps" him wake up!). In any case, Logan had a fabulous party, Isabelle was happy to demonstrate how to open the gifts and was thrilled to get her own loot bag to bring home. It took a while for us to convince her that it wasn't her birthday all over again but eventually she got the idea!

Sunday the first Army Run half marathon took place in Ottawa, and it ran right past the bottom of our street. Isabelle's Uncle Randy was set to be one of the leaders so we ventured down to cheer him and everyone else on. Isabelle was very into the running theme, as she usually is, but even moreso as she was sporting her birthday gift, New Balance Elmo running shoes. The funny thing is that, prior to that morning, she would not even entertain the notion of putting these on, to the point where we actually tried to return them the day before. These are the shoes we searched everywhere for, found them in the US, drove down to a border town at 7 a.m. to pick up, etc. Thankfully, once she was convinced they were for RUNNING, she now loves them.
