Our Little Student

Isabelle's first day of school finally arrived and she was exactly as you would expect her to be, both nervous and excited at the same time. Even though we met her teacher yesterday and you would expect that to alleviate some of her concerns, Isabelle was still a little apprehensive as she sat on the steps at Acorn, waiting to walk with all her classmates for her first day of SK. This will her normal morning routine for the many months to come, so it was important to us that she start Day One the same way as all her friends. It was hard to say goodbye to her, knowing that she was heading off on a new and unknown adventure without us at her side. Is anyone surprised that she did just fine and in fact had a great first day? Her and her teacher are off on the right foot and Isabelle even came back with some French songs to sing to us during dinner, as well as a full rendition of the various new rules she now has to remember. It ends being a perfect day for her, time with friends walking over, a couple of hours of learning and activities and school, then back to daycare for a great lunch, an afternoon of fun stuff and playing outside with her little brother. We are proud of how well she did on her first day and are busily packing her required backpack with indoor shoes and a nut-free snack for Day 2! Don't grow up so fast, little girl!

Showing off the huge painting her and her classmates whipped up!

As for Oliver, he woke up Wednesday to discover a new Cars poster on his bedroom door. He absolutely loves it and has a hard time walking down the hall without stopping to check it out. He sees something new every time and already knows his favourites, as well as those of all his fellow family members. Hours of fun with one simple piece of paper!
