The Rideau Canal Kicks Ice!

The canal season is in full swing, especially with the recent cold spell putting the ice in near-perfect condition. This weekend 3 of us laced up our skates (the 4th grabbed his sled!) and headed over for a traditional Ottawa winter family skate. Oliver was even out both days and has become a little obsessed with the trucks that clear the ice. We can only imagine what will happen when he sees a full-fledged snowplow on our street! They both had a great time and will surely be back each weekend as the winter passes by. This is such a great city and a great part of the country for wintertime activity, stay downtown for some skating or head up to the Gatineau hills for cross-country or downhill skiing, take your pick! We are all looking forward to Winterlude over the next 3 weekends, especially if the weather holds up. Snow and ice sculptures, giant ice slides, tubing and Beaver Tails will all be on the agenda. Who said winters were no fun?!

No better way to spend a Sunday afternoon in winter

Where did that truck go?

Master Oliver, your chariot awaits!
